UNGIS Members emphasize that the WSIS process is a continually evolving process involving many UN agencies, guided by mandates from annual United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) resolutions, as well as resolutions from several UN agencies involved in the implementation of the WSIS process.

The twenty-first meeting of the United Nations Group on the Information Society (UNGIS) took place during the WSIS+20 Forum High-Level Event 2024. The meeting consisted of two sessions: the UNGIS High-Level roundtable meeting on May 28, 2024, and the Working-Level meeting on May 30, 2024. During these sessions, UNGIS Leaders discussed highlights and challenges related to digital transformation. They also exchanged ideas and proposals to accelerate the implementation of the WSIS Action Lines and enhance digital cooperation. Additionally, the meeting aimed to foster a shared commitment and provide recommendations for shaping future digital governance. Overall, the meeting served as an opportunity to advance Group’s objectives and address substantive and policy issues within the United Nations system, building upon the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).
